HAving gven up trying to fix a dead WMA11 I have turned my mind to a WM83.

It fills then the timer/programmer keeps turning but the motor doesn’t run.

If I set it to spin it empties but again, no motor.

I have noticed a fuse soldered onto the PCB near the programmer and it has blown. Does anybody know what this fuse protects (I’m guessing motor circuit) and what would normally cause it to blow.

    Thanks

yes it is for the motor, overloading or worn carbons can cause it to blow

Ha!! Thanks for that, it makes sense, the machine had terminal bearings and a shattered drum support which was so bad that the drum was actually jamming.

I’ve done the bearings etc so hopefully changing the fuse should bring it back to life!

    Thanks again

Funny, I had my first ever one of those the other day. WM55 Pulled sock out of machine with seized drum and found still no motor action on test. 6.3A time delay glass bodied fuse soldered in. Used one of those little round plastic ones as for the Miele board repair, had to extend one of the legs a bit.
