I was called out to the job with the description of top oven not working.

Thought it was the element but turns out low insulation and it did not tripped the fuse box, instead blew out the thermostat knob

I inspected the knob, it was burnt out so I bought a new thermo knob and fitted it, it’s in working order. I noticed the old thermo probe was blue and the new one is black but longer. I thought how odd, not unusual for me as I have worked on other ovens with probe having long wire and I just loop it up and put on one side.

When I came home and found on the parts website that the “blue” thermo knob is available but it was right on the bottom of the screen whereas I sourced the part which was on the top of the screen. It was miles apart and didn’t crossed my mind that it there would be different length. I’m concerned that I fitted the wrong part but it did the job well and it reached to the right temperature so should I own up my error and revisit the job to fit the correct thermo knob or does it not make any difference?

having a quick look on my lux disc and your description am at a bit of a loss what you mean

you say the knob had burnt but then you say it has a probe so is it a knob or a thermostat?

i can find 3 variants of this model and without the pnc number and an accurate description its hard to know what the part differences are

what part number did you fit and what is zanussi’s description of it ?

Hi Dave, it was the probe thermostat lead. the terminal was burnt out so I replaced it. It was for the top oven temperature knob.
