I have a Bosch built-in double fan oven, model number HBN43 which has just started showing an intermittent fault with the fan in the main oven.
Occasionally the fan will not start when the oven is turned on, and on at least one occasion the fan started but was turning really slowly (so slowly that it might as well not have bothered!)
Thus far, turning the oven off and on again has managed to force the fan into normal operation.
So I’m guessing that the fan is probably on the way out… – and you just *know* that if I leave it it will most likely fail completely a day or two before Christmas….
Is this a simple/cheap/DIY repair? (SWMBO is already trawling the appliance sites looking for a new oven!!)

You need a new fan motor Paul.
If you check around the door for the rating plate for the full model number, it will begin with what you have posted, but it’s longer, it should be HBN43??GB/?? we can then help more with pricing etc.

Pretty much what I expected…. – generally speaking, is this an “expensive” repair? – is it a DIY-able piece of work?
The full model number is: HBN435AGB/01 (E-Number), and 7802 (FD)

Theoretically a screwdriver job, but the oven will have to come out – it’s bl@@dy heavy!

Not too bad, – cheaper than the £500-odd for a new oven that SWMBO was contemplating! – where can I order it from? – can I get it online?…

Also good news, – I’ll do it myself then. – I presume it is replaced from behind then… – any “gotcha’s I should look out for? (apart from the weight, which I already know about having already fitted this oven twice myself!)

Fan nut is a left hand thread, 🙄 apart from that make sure you’ve cut the power.

OK, Im standing at the back of the oven, and the back cover is off…
I’ve removed the 3 screws securing the fan motor to the back of the oven cavity and it is now moving freely in the hole through the back of the cavity…
It obviously won’t come out yet though, since the fan blade assembly is still fixed to the motor shaft on the other side of the bulkhead….
Q: – how do I get at and remove the fan blade from the motor shaft? – do I have to go inside the oven cavity from the front? – or should I be able to do this whole operation from the back of the oven?

You have to remove the back panel INSIDE the oven as well, just four or six screws, then you can get to and remove the fan.
We have said it before and well say it again, make sure its switched off and no one can switch it on while you are working, to be sure pull the fuse or trip in your consumer unit.
