ParticipantThis is not really a fault but i just want to double check a few things.
I have a Hotpoint Ultima SDW80 slimline dishwasher in what i believe Hotpoint call graphite. The machine is working fine but i need to remove the metal on the front of the door below the control panel so i can either respray it myself or get my friends bodyshop to spray it to match with the new kitchen i am fitting.
I have opened the door and found screws all the way along both sides – before i just start removing screws left and right does the electronic panel have to come off to allow the metal panel off
Also – would the machine still be usable with the front panel removed. I am assuming that the front panel is a seperate bit of metal to the actual door
And finally, the machine says on the front Super Silent. That is one hell of a lie but i have a big pile of bitumin based sound deadening designed for aftermarket car stereo installs (this stuff works as well – not a vibration from a panel it is on in my 149decibel car) and i was wondering if i could shove some of this on the metal work of the door to reduce the noise escaping from the machine

Never mind lads, i got bored and managed to take the metal work off myself – will update this thread with pictures once i have the panel back from the sprayer/added sound deadening to make it quieter

You will not get a low end, low quality Indesit made dishwasher to be silent unless you switch it off. 😉

yes i know it is a low end pile of rubbish and it is amazing it does not fall apart every time it is looked at but as i paid next to nowt for it it will do for now (if i paid full price i would not be happy) but as i have the sound-deadening sheets laying around i think i will throw some on the metal work when i put it back together

Well i got the metalwork of the door off and got it resprayed by my friendly car bodyshop and it is looking good BUT now the machine has an odd problem – will start a new thread

Don’t start a new thread, keep it all in one place, better all round. 😉

After much headscratching i found out the reason it was not releasing detergent was i knocked the connector for the detergent release mechanism off when putting the door back on
Still the silver panel and door sprayed in Ford Metallic black looks alright
Should look good when the new kitchen goes in

It does look good I must say and you can always rely on a Ford anyway. 😛

Yep still feel like a wally for not spotting that cable off as i must have looked at it a good 10 or so times while cursing it for not working. With some clever placement this dishwasher should look semi intergrated when done. Will try and upsate thread when its properly in place
Guessing your a ford fan as well, i dont know another make that would take the abuse i have dished out to my 2ton 2seater mondeo speaker on wheels and keep going. Timed it right talking the panel up as my friend had a black fiesta in the spraybooth that needed spraying when i turned up
