    Hi,
I carried out some major work on my AC110 washing machine (new bearings, seals etc).
However, during the operation I managed to damage the thermostat connector, I purchased a new one and all seemed fine. Although I noticed the water wasn’t heating.

    I purchased one of these: http://www.partmaster.co.uk/cgi-bin/pro … PID=866399
When I received the thermostat I noticed it was slightly larger than the one I removed.
After looking around I found one which looks identical – http://www.espares.co.uk/part/washing-m … -mach.html

What I would like to know is, whats the difference – there seems to be two thermostats for this machine, one around the £10 mark with a slightly larger front and one around the £40 mark.
Wondering if this could be the problem ?

    Thanks.

The eSpares one shown is the correct part (Genuine Hoover Part No 92744630). I suspect that you may also have connected the wires wrongly?

    Re: Hoover AC110 heating problem

I wired it up the same as before, there weren’t any instructions or symbols on the thermostat stating which wires go where.
So thermostat went in, in the same orientation as old thermostat (took photos before removing).
What would you suggest, returning the thermostat or swapping the wires (unsure if that would damage anything?).
Could it be the heating element ?

I would suspect you do have the wires on the wrong terminals. 😉

    Hi,
Thanks for your help – I’ve just checked the wiring and it all looks fine to me.
Below are before and after photos – I’m stumped!

    Before

    After

EDIT: I replaced one of the connectors, hence why the green wire and a blue spade connector (connection is fine).

One side of the stat (terms 1 & 2) are the temperature control. The other side of the stat (terms 1 & 2) are the safety overheat protector. I suspect they may therefore be configured 180 degrees out?

    Re: Hoover AC110 heating problem

Tried swapping the cables to no avail.

Think I will just buy a new washing machine, new stat £40, new heating element £40 – not worth it when you include all the other bits and pieces I’ve just replaced!

    Thanks for your help anyway.

    Re: Hoover AC110 heating problem

Are you sure it was heating before your repairs… The element could be at fault, or other items.
