ParticipantHave been out to this three times.
Once, couple of years back when I had to repair a hole in drum due carpentry screw. Once, couple of weeks back to empty filter of screws, nails, fluff etc. Had to remove front panel to get it to open.
Last time was yesterday and had to do same again, one nail, half dead sock plus a slug of fluff. Pulled off sump hose to find yet more sock and fluff around eco-ball. Working out that such fluff might be coming from dryer condenser, I went to top of m/c, removed fan motor and cleared stuff in there by pulling it out with forceps and a bent wire.
Tested m/c for fill/mtr/drain – all OK.
Tried dry only programmed up 15 mins, pressed start and just got immediate f18. Grrr. Machine in galley kitchen, did not want to oik it out again, thought maybe I just don’t know how to operate dryer, maybe needs washing in.. time to go home.. customer out anyway.. if there’s something wrong they’ll call me back. (So far not heard but it’s early days.)
I read f18 is drainage problem but it passed fill/wash/drain test so could it be that code just needs cancelling?

That indicates that the pressure switch thinks there’s too much water in the drum on t/dry. Time to clean out the P/switch system.

It sure is Mike and judging by all the junk you’ve fished from it in the past I’m not surprised. Any restriction in the drainage system whatsoever will cause this error. I expect the pump must be a bit knackered by now anyway. 🙁

Ah, OK, thanks Martin. I’ll hang on and hope it was maybe that I was too impatient to allow it to drain fully before programming up a dry.
Didn’t even think to look for the pressure vessel. I assume it’s accessed from the front. Might give them a ring and tell them to keep an eye on fill level meanwhile. (Luckily, if it overfills on this one, the water will go straight out the kitchen door.)
They’ve got a lovely week ahead for drying outside anyway so should get time before the call back 😀 .
Is it poor design that condenser fluff can come down and block the eco ball and filter? Mind you, thought just struck me, they’ve got horses :rolls: .
