ParticipantI seem to be coming across a quite a few late Hoover/candy washers with faulty control units lately. These are the new ones with the selector intergrated into the board, is anyone else finding this ?

Customers are saying they can’t get them onto top spin speed on spin only prog, one say’s if she jiggles the knob sometimes top speed light comes on. Also had problems reseting programmes, they seem to get locked in.

Customers can spout all sorts of stuff when in truth all they need to do is read the operating instructions correctly. You say faulty control units but have you actually replaced one in order to cure the ‘fault?’
What is the model number of these faulty machine or better still the product number? That way I can check if there are any mods with Hoover.8-)

It’s worth noting that there are machines on the market where this is the norm. The ISE 5 made by Vestel will not go into top spin speed on a spin only programme. It will only do this on certain cotton washes. My guess is that this is to stop people deliberately over spinning delicate items.

If its the latest Optima range, arm yourself with a can of switch cleaner. Done loads of them. No need to change the board. The nextra range you can change the selector on its own mind.

It is the late ones without the separate selector to which I refer Tim. I haven’t changed any yet but did quote for a new board on one. I’ll phone the customer now and get the switch cleaner out.
Thanks again

After checking with Gias, they apparently acknowledge the fact that early ‘Easy Logic’ machines with the selector switches built into the coreboard have known issues of incorrect selection etc. The problem has been resolved with replacement boards since January 2011. The new boards can be identified by the letter B stamped on the board directly above the date and the selector switch spindle.
HTH? 😀
