dont know if anyone else has had problems with connells as i know they have quite a few offices but to cut a long story short have outstanding payment coming up for 5 months now and to say my blood is boiling is an understatement! every one i speak passes the buck and unfortunatly their main office is not local. anyone else had problems with the bigger estate agents?

Try a Court Summons, usually works. Chances are they got others on there books that do work for them in your area anyway, so way up whether working for free is better than not doing there calls.

Personally anybody who is prepared to negotiate payment terms due to circumstances being a little tight I’d listen too, but the ones willing to drag it out and take the 8888 I’d rather sue, take a risk you may loose there business, you may loose both if you hang around and wait, there business may go tits up and you’ll get nowt.

im not bothered about losing the work as this is first and last time i have dealt with a bigger firm of estate agents. in 18 years of dealing with agents have never had this problem and because they are a largish outfit it just gets pushed from pillar to post. the annoying thing is i supplied 2 appliances as well as the repair so it stands me in at about 500 pound so its not just my time im owed. i said i will give them till fri otherwise will be making a formal complaint but dont know where to start legally?

As Lee8 suggests, take out a Small Claims summons with your local County Court. Advise them in writing that if the amount you are owed isn’t settled in full within (x) many days, you will issue C C summons. Small Claims (under £5000) are easily and quickly dealt with by the courts. Go on-line to download all the necessary documentation from them and away you go……. 😀

Whether estate agents, landlords or managing agents, when they don’t pay, we chase the tenant or householder.

Before we do however, we always tell those that we invoiced what we are about to do & why. 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} success rate so far.

Three repairers are having trouble getting paid in my area at the moment one from october!

Thankfully i’m not one as since being bitten like this too many times they have to pay the call-out up front then parts on the job. (needless to say some don’t want to work like this but look what happens so we don’t miss it)

Same old excuses. “The landlord wont pay so we cant do anything”, “there isn’t enough money in the rent account” blah blah.

It seems they are so used to being “agents” that if landlord wont pay it’s hard luck for you. Even though your contract is with the agent.
