ParticipantHello I am hoping some one can advise what i should do with my 7 year old Hoover fridge Freezer , Firstly i must add i have searched for the model number that was on a sticker in the fridge but has been removed i have searched all over the inside and out and see no other way of telling what model number it is, The main problem is that the fridge compartment just dont stay cool enough it stays on around 15C even when i turn teh thermostat up or down
the freezer works just fine though and is a frost free one if this helps, would it be a thermostat problem that needs replaced ?
what is a rough price for a new thermostat ?
is it easy to replace(Ive taken many things apart and fixed them so am confident with electrics)Or should i just get taken away for scrap?
i have seperate fridge freezers now anyway so im in no rush for it to be fixed
Thanks in advance

Hi
It’s more likely a system fault which will need an engineer visit .

hi thanks for your speedy reply , what is a system fault?
would it be worth getting repaired ?
i ran a google search and seen it could be anything from a broken compressor to needing a new fan
I understand that the freezer blows cold to the fridge so would this rule out the thermostat ?April 2, 2012 at 8:48 pm #372688admin

Hi
Fan blows into the fridge..Not likely as there are not many of that type of frost free fridge freezers in the hoover range. the freezer may be frost free but the fridge would normally be a wet wall type.(the back of the fridge wall gets wet and slight frost.)
would it be worth getting it repaired.. without the model number or range / serial number can’t see for certain what components are in the appliance.Bryan
