ParticipantI posted in the rumour mill about Comets multiskilled engineers Corgi.
Having to go out on the delivery truck and deliver and install 8 cookers a day, they now get an extra £5.00 for every completed call so could earn an extra £200.00 per week but of course they are now working up to an extra 6 hours a day. So doing a 70 hour week.
So the company are cutting down on a delivery man whom they would pay overtime, and getting both jobs done for less money.
How many of us engineers would like to deliver cookers all day! when I go to some of these houses I wonder how they got them in, installing them I don’t see a problem but then having to take the old one out as well no thanks.
The reason for this repost is that any that refuse to do it are now threatend
with the sack, so there are many disgruntled engineers looking around now.
I am now taking one on,so it could be a good time to advertise unless you want them delivering as well.Kirk

ParticipantMentioned this to my mate Alan over a pint tonight
(He’s a Dawson commissioning engineer) and he’s off to phone head office in the morning, muttering things like “Yippee” and the like. Made somebody happy today at least.Cheers,

Believe it or not, some time ago Comet had the cheek to write to my engineers at my business address to offer them jobs.
Perhaps now might be a good time to return the compliment by all of our members who are looking for Corgi trained staff to advertise from UKW for disgruntled Comet engineers to come along and have a little chat.Like my old Dad used to say to me ” Don’t get mad son, Get even ” 😉

Sadly enough i am one of those affore mentioned engineers that do the cooker installs for comet and the information given isnt strictly true it all depends on which service centre you work for as to how much extra you get but as for the extra hours i cant comment as i now work less hours than i did as a field engineer my service centre pays its gas installers/engineers a whopping £20 a day on top of the normal pittance of a wage regardless of how many installed on that day so as you so rightly put it happy days at comet!!! i would be gratfull if you could let me know which service centres are paying £5 per install
