ParticipantAfter replacing a faulty soap dispenser on AEG dishwasher model FAVORIT 44070Vi the door will not fully close. When a wash programme is started it continues even though the door will not close. This fault was not there before the soap dispenser was replaced and now still remains even when the old soap dispenser is refitted. It has been mentioned in forums that it is possible to reset door catches, is this the case or is it an electrical fault registering the door as permanently closed. ANy suggestions on a fix?

You may have inadvertantly closed the door lock which has latched. Put a cotton bud in the lock hole and then waggle it about and see if the latch slide moves across. If so then you should be able to close the door.

Thanks for the response. The door lock mechanism on the dishwasher does not move at all when waggled as suggested. The lock appears to possibly be electronically operated moving up and down rather than side to side. There is a spring loaded mechanism which can move the latch up and down but the metal loop on the machine does not fully enter the location slot in the door, therefore the door will not close flush with the machine casing.

Would suggest that the door latch has gone over the top ie too far with the power off try and flick it forward.

Many thanks your suggestion has solved the problem. I managed to prise the white plastic spring loaded mechanism towards me, forward of the vertical position, and the door now closes. I have run a wash cycle and it is fine. Great job thanks again.
