ParticipantHi everyone……noob so go easy 😀
Our faithful 12 year old w/machine gave up the ghost today and with 2 babies, that is seriously scary sh@t……lol
Following some advice here I pulled the brushes
I think they look bucked but would just like confirmation before I replace if anyone could help.
Also, could someone direct me to the exact item in the store, couldn’t see a direct reference to our machine model and I don’t want to stick the eBay tosh in as I would really love this machine to do us another good while if possible
Here is a link to a picture of the brushes

Thank you very much………is the commutator cleanup really required?

Looking at the state of your old brushes I would say yes, one of them has worn right through to the braided cord which may have scarred the comm.

OK bud…….I see the shop here sells some comm cleaner thingy….
Do you know if that is just used through the brush holes or is it a motor strip?
Sorry for all the probably lame questions

Sorry, read the blurb……. can seemingly be done in situ

All done and back together……we now have a working machine that I hope will last us many years to come 🙂
Thanks so much for the advice and special thanks to the UK Whitegoods shop….super keen pricing and super rocket ship next day delivery to Belfast!
One wee question, its slightly “ticky” now when turning the drum, I took special care to make sure nothing was caught or touching on reassembly and used a vacuum while cleaning the commutator, would it be fair to assume that there is a certain amount of bedding in for the brushes?
Thanks again

Yes, a couple of long wash cycles should do it! 🙂

Time for retirement methinks. It sounds like the commutator sustained serious damage from the braided cable.
New motor and even possibly a new control PCB. 🙁

Awww man.
I see that motors are over 200 ish. That is a no-goer tbh as you say.
Had a wee look without pulling the brushes again tonight.
Seems to be a pretty hefty carbon buildup around the commutator, could that have been from the new brushes?
Are there really no options here?
Why would the pcb be borked?
Is there any way I can test that the PCB would be ok?
Is it possible to refurbish these motors?
Such a bad time to even consider a new machine…..havent got a bean 🙁
Thanks

Sorry Jinjur but as my colleague said, its time for retirement. Even stumping up for a new motor doesn’t make economic sense and they don’t do recon motors for these. Best last ditch hope though might be eBay but I won’t hold my breath. 😥
