ParticipantThe problem is that the fridge part is no longer cooling down. I have been through the info i found on the internet. Defrosted for 24 hours and it has worked fine for 4 days but started going back up to 14 degrees 2 days ago so we are defrosting again to see if we didnt do it long enough. Its a single compressor jobby so i am guessing as the freezer is ok that it must the the fan, thermostat or somthing else. If i could find a service manual i would strip it down and check it all but i cant find one anywhere just manuals. Would the thermostat be a part i could get and replace myself? If so any ideas where from? The compressor comes on all the time and we have noticed it more than normal recently but the freezer is working perfectly. Thats what makes me think its somthing simple like a fan or thermostat not the compressor. Would this be a correct assumtion to make?

Hi sounds like a defrost problem with a possible heater failure.

🙁 ill keep my eye on it when we turn it on and report back. Would this be somthing i could fix myself or is it an engineer fix? And roughly what would it cost?

Ok….situation so far. We defrosted it for 36 hours last week and turned it back on last Friday and its all been fine. I came home tonight at 8 and it was still +4 and just been out to get some nibbles and its up to +10 again:(. So in 2.5 hours its gone up by 6 degrees. I have pulled it out and there is no liquid in the collector on top of the compressor. I did however hear what sounded like a fan blowing and then after a minute the compressor kicked in? Checked it 10 minutes later and it was up to 13 degrees?
Is it Kaput?
Is there anything i can check with my multimeter?
Is it worth getting someone to look at it?
Are there any reputable engineers in warwickshire?
What sort of money would it cost to fix if it was worst case and what would be best case 9Just so i can decide if its worth replacing.Any help would be most appreciated.
Cheers

Hi
I think you need to check the heater or thermal fuse area as it sounds like its not defrosting correctly

Anyone offer any advice on where to find the thermal fuse or heater connections to test?
