ParticipantHi all.
I’ve got a Hoover oph714ds that has had a problem selecting programs for a while. Getting it to stay on the required program long enough to press start is like cracking a safe with the selector dial! Now though, any program I get it to run starts, but then does not progress. The timer continues counting down until the program is due to end, then E08 comes up in the display. Another site I have been on (I can’t remember which one though) suggests it is the PCB at fault and that the part number is 41023927. Can anyone shed any light on the matter? If you need a serial number I will drag it out and find it.
Thanks. 🙂April 16, 2012 at 9:47 pm #373366kwatt

E08 is a motor problem, not the PCB.
The error codes are here:

Did one of these today e08 was due to motor brushes being worn out. ive also come across the selector switch problem a few times before. i just took the pcb/control off and sprayed a little wd40 into the back of the selector switch. Hope this solves it.

Thanks very much guys! Have removed the brushes and yep, they are completely worn. While I was there I have also removed the heating element as have been getting E03 quite a bit aswell, and true to form that was scaled up beyond belief. Will order new parts from this site without delay.
Thanks again for your help.

Just a quick update guys. Can’t thank you enough as the parts were ordered from this site, arrived quickly, were easy to fit and the machine now works perfectly. That is apart from the selector problem. Applianceman2010, how do I take the pcb/control off to be able to spray wd40 on the back? Do I have to remove the top of the machine? If so, could you advise as to how this is removed please?

Yes, you will need too remove the lid (power off don’t forget!) its held in with 3x 7mm screws. then you can go at it two ways either locate the back of the PCB (behind the facia) and spray a little squirt of wd40 into the back of the control knob whilst turning the knob back and forth. If this doesn’t do it then take off the facia and remove the PCB board from it . This is done by taking the soap draw out (pull and press down on the blue tab) and take the screws from the facia behind the soap draw facia (can’t remember how many screws 3/4) then there are a few plastic tabs holding the rest of the facia on. be careful not to snap these as it will mean it won’t go back on . once you have the facia off remove the PCB board and connections and a little wd40 in the back of the selector switch then Should do it. wipe off any excess wd40….. and carefully re assemble.

Personally I use;
other products are available from other stores. (I have no affiliation with Halfords!!) 🙂
WD40 being an oil will naturally attract dirt and dust over time.
