KeymasterI have a hygena APL 8124 Dishwasher.
Here’s the Problem.
It always cuts out on number 3,Standard wash or 4,Economy programme in the same place a few mins on 3 but on 4 facing the opposite direction.
I,ve checked the lead via dishwasher to plug fine plus new fuse.
Looked on net to what could be wrong thinking it could be the timer or when it heats up.Had a look at front panel inside where the timer looks quite hard to take it apart.
I have had a local repair shop look at it’s the timer to fix would cost £ 100 plus.
A timer would cost me about £50 is it worth me trying fix it considering I,ve already payed £50 a few years ago for it not the timer little black switch.Maybe it’s time to throw it out?November 24, 2004 at 3:53 pm #120264kwatt
KeymasterJezball,
It’s highly unlikely to be the timer causing that and I’d advise that you gt someone in to look at it that’s familiar with the machine. It sounds like a heater/stat problem but there’s no way to tell with that kind of fault without some testing of the appliance.

kwatt
So it could be both ?
hi, yeah on 1.pre-rinse works fine cold rinse no cuts out i,ve seen how much a heater for this model would cost about the same plus the rubber seal does not look too good & hinges are rusted etc I,m throwing it out
Going for a Hotpoint dishwasher ivory colour the reason cause they do five year parts on it cause it helped when our washing machine WMA62 went down a new drum, new machine really.Thx for the advice just to see which way go.

KeymasterEhm, the machine you have is a Smeg in a dress.
The Hotpoint you buy now is a Merloni machine and let’s just say that they’re not getting great reviews right now. 😉
Put it this way, I have a Smeg in the house and I wouldn’t give a Merloni machine houseroom if it could possibly be avoided. They also make Indesit, Ariston, Scholtes and Philco off the top of my head.
If you want an integrated to replace it with have a look at CDA as they also offer a 5 year parts warranty and are very customer orientated.

Can u recommend a dishwasher for £300 or thereabouts. There seems so many about these days. The misses always had a Hotpoint before! She likes the 5 year guarantee. Obviously will not be buying another for a few years after this.
PS it has to be Graphite to match her Fridgefreezer and washing machine.

If it’s the graphite color match you’re after there’s little option that to stay with the Hotpoint range.
Post up any models before purchase and we will try and advise which are the better one’s if we can.

ParticipantCheck out Bosch SGS45E08 – around £280 from high street retailers. Might just suit your needs and 2 year guarantee as standard.

Unfortunately having a Hotpoint Graphite Washing machine and Fridgefreezer the reasonable thing would be to buy a Hotpoint Graphite Dishwasher Hotpoint FDW60G is the one we were looking at as it has time delay and we have Economy 7 still. But Misses rather have a diswhwasher with time delay that won’t break down too much. Even being different colour. Your opinion in any Hotpoint Graphite series would be appreciated.

FDW60G is an Indesit in disguise Jezball 😉
It appears that all the new Hotpoint dishwashers are.
It’s a case of cosmetics or otherwise I’m afraid, if you really want graphite then that is the one to go for, if you want longevity, forget the colour and go for the Bosch Penguin recommended.
Aslo bear in mind the 5 year warranty thing only covers the parts after the 1st year and the condition is that those free parts are fitted by Merloni only, at circa £80 a call it’s not always the best option.

ParticipantThe business became known as “white goods” for a reason……. You were free to mix and match products to suit your needs, rather than be forced into a course of action which will almost certainly be regretted a year from now because of the “need” to match a particular shade of grey.
Think…..
