ParticipantHi
My Indesit WIL163 washing machine started making a lot of noise on the spin cycle. I found some movement between the inner and outer drums and suspected the bearings needed replacing. I removed the spider at the rear of the machine and found that the bearings did have signs of corrosion, so I replaced them and reassembled everything. However, the machine still made a lot of noise on the spin cycle and there is still movement between the inner and outer drums. I’m now wondering if the shaft attached to the inner drum has come loose as if I wobble the inner drum, the shaft seems tight in the bearings and does not move (it turns ok).
Does anyone know how the shaft is attached to the inner drum and if it can come loose? If it can, how easy it is to remove the inner drum and fix it? I assume the outer drum opens at the front, but can’t figure out how.
Any advice on whether this can be fixed gratefully received.
Thanks

Sounds like you have a metal( tin) tank if so outer and inner drums come as a complete unit.

Yes, outer tank is thin metal. ‘Spider’ (where the bearings go) on the back of the tank is cast iron. If inner drum and outer tank are a single unit, I think I am going to be looking for a new machine as its 5 years old.

I’m afraid that seems like your best option now.

How did you replace the bearings if inner drum & outer tub are a single unit?

The bearings are in the spider and the spider is on the outside rear of the drum on those machines if I remember right.

George – you are correct.
Once the spider is removed the inner drum is loose inside the tank, but I guess it is sealed in there and can’t be removed.

Yes it is C00094282 and it fits about 30 different machines… You could salvage a good one from another machine.

5 years from a WIL163 has surely got to be something of a record….wow!
The machine is Italian and now would be a good time to contact your local priest so that he can administer it’s last rights….! 🙁

Many thanks to those who provided information. I’ll be looking for a new machine this weekend.
Cheers
