    Hi Folks.

This oven has the well documented F03 Problem. I have checked the thermistor which is around 1k, the same as in another “working” oven. I guess it is the control board, which is apparently “scrambled” and may just need hardware configuration.
The numbers on the label on the board are 4619 615 14381 pcb316.

Could anyone advise me if this particular model can be reconfigured and if it can, provide me with the information to do so.

Any assistance as usual much appreciated.

    Regards,

    Mike

    Hi folks.

I would’nt mind a response on this one, I keep tripping over the oven whenever I go into my workshop. If its destined for the great scrapheap in the sky I would like to send it soon.

    Regards,

look at the control board and see if there are 5 resistors in a line directly in front of the transformer, if they are there then they will be numbered 0 to 4. On the rating plate there should be a number next to the 12nc number that is in a bigger font than the rest and IIRC on your oven it will be 07. If it is cut resistors 1,2 and 3 out of the board and try the oven, only cut these resistors if the number is 07, if it is any other number let me know and I will let you know which resistors to cut. This will work most of the time and if not it will need a new board.

If there is just a blank space where the resistors should be then you need a sam module to reprogram.

    Hi John.

    Thanks for your prompt reply.

The number on the rating plate is as you say 07.

There is just two resistors in the line up in front of the transformer, these are numbered R002 and R003. There is a R001, but it is not in line and is a flat disc type, could be a thermistor or something. The third, fourth and fifth resistors in the line are not present, just line diagram of them.
    I hope this helps.

    Mike.

If the resistors are not present you will need a sam module to reprogram it, your board will probably have a 4 pin connection on it labelled “service”

Yes thats correct John, it does have a service plug thing.

Whats a SAM module? Can I assume that this job is getting out of the realm of possibility. (And nearer to the scrapheap).

    Mike.

    Re: Whirlpool AKZ456/1X 8585 4561 15010 Oven.

    Hi Folks.

I am hoping that DentedPorsche is out there somewhere in the Ether, as I am following his post from 29th June 2011, which I believe relates to my problem and resetting the configuration code manually as follows:-

    1. Rotate Function selector to off, disconnect oven supply.
    2. Reconnect supply, push and hold option button for 5sec,alarm beeps.
3.Push option button 4 times consecutively within 8secs. Configuration code is shown in display
4.Push and hold option button for 5 secs. display will start to flash. Rotating the +/- Knob changes its value.
5.Push and hold option button for 5 secs to store it, display stops flashing.
    6. Disconnect/reconnect supply to exit setup.

My question is what should the configuration code be?
    ie What is normal.

Any assistance much appreciated, I dont really want to scrap this oven If its just a button pushing exercise as its really in quite good condition.

    Regards,

    Mike

Doh… totally forgot that it could be done using the front buttons, I haven’t done one for about 3 years so I have an excuse.

The configuration code should be 07.

    Re: Whirlpool AKZ456/1X 8585 4561 15010 Oven.

    Thanks John.

I think that I have successfully entered into this service programme, read the existing code as 07 (correct), stored the code without changing and exited the programme, but I still have F03.

Am I correct in assuming the the board if stuffed or is there anything else that I should consider?.

    Scrapman comes in the morning.

    Many Thanks,

    Mike.

If the code doesn’t work then time for the scrap man.
