Hi. When dispensing ice, the lights and control panel flash on and off and the elctro magnet that lifts the dispensor door is swithing rapidly on and off, making a very loud banging noise as it activates on and off. It does this even with the ice box removed. Interestingly, if you leave the freezer door open to activte the alarm, ice dispensor works fine until the alarm is reset. Everything else appears to be working fine. There’s no obvious faults anywhere. I’m guessing at a faulty ECB, but before I shell out best part of £200 I’m open to other suggestions on a possible cause.

So after a bit more research on the forum, I took a chance and ordered the PCB repair kit:

Had a go at replacing just the largest capacitor and plugged everything back together.
Sparks off the circuit board, swopped back to the original capacitor, same thing.
ALso appeard that one of the three square white boxes clicked and sparked internally.
So…. have I just bricked the circuit board as this doesn’t seem normal? Is my house about to burn down?
On a happy note, the fridge and freezer still seem to be working, no joy on the ice dispensor. Do I bite the bullet and replace the whole thing (http://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/Refriger … c+PCB.html) for £150?

Buy a bag of ice cubes from Tesco and toss a few into the ice bucket once in a while……far cheaper…….Pims anyone?

Not got a problem with making ice, it’s the dispencing bit that gets exciting. Lovely big bucket of perfect ice, just no easy access, though much more exciting now there’s a danger of setting the house on fire.
All I need is a method of transporting the perfect ice out of the freezer and into the pimms without all the banging and flashing lights the do so distrub.

Ok, so now not only is the ice dispensor not working (I gave up trying to fix it and just put ice in a bowl in the freezer), now the fridge isn’t cooling. Freezer side is fine. Compressor running constantly, cooling fan for compressor running constantly because the compressor is so hot (the cooling fan is running silently). Removed all fluf from cooling fins, still not cooling. Any suggestions?
