Its probably just a blocked or defective pump. Pull off the plastic kick plate at the bottom of the front panel and underneath is a filter, you may need to drain or manualy empty the water out first or you will have a deluge. Unscrew the filter and pull it out and then get down on your knees with a torch and look inside, check the 4 bladed impellor in there is not jammed with anything. Could be a duff pump, not very expensive to repair, worth getting it looked at anyway. Unplug before doing anything though and mop up any spilt water before testing it again.
The pumps used these days (synchronous magnetic motors) can simply refuse to run if the armature wears the plastic pump housing. The motor unit can be replaced at reasonable expense, however, you do need to ensure that the pump is receiving 230v first!
If you cannot do this safely I would suggest popping up your postcode and seeing if there is a UKW engineer in your area.
