    Hi folks,
A friend of mine who lives some distance away has contacted me to ask if she can build a built under double oven into a column in her new kitchen. She has bought the oven by mistake on ebay :rolls: and the kitchen company are refusing to install it due to inadequate ventilation. The carcus has no back apparently, so I’m thinking this should be ok, is this correct ?

    Allan,

You need a good supply of air through/passed the oven to keep it within range. If she has a ventilation vent in the plinth as well as one on top of the column she should be OK.

    Built in/under problem

Do the shelves in the tower cabinet go back to the wall? If yes she will need to cut a section out of every shelf including the base and top and as Ian says put a vent in the plinth to allow air flow. Because built under ovens are smaller than built in she will also need to make up up 180mm with a filler panel, a vent could be put here but not as nice to look at.
