ParticipantAnyone come across these Ariston & Indeshit dishwashers with the top basket preventing the detergent dispenser from opening, what bad design, o.k if powder is used but crap for tablets as the door only opens a few mm & hardly any water can get in to wash out tablet, who designs this stuff?

Dunno Seamy, what model are you talking about anyway, maybe there’s a mod?

Ariston LSI61 is the one i have looked at last, top basket doesnt allow door of detergent dispenser to open, it will only get to open a few mm & the tablet won’t get to fall out hence poor wash performance..

This sounds a bit odd to me, I doubt even Merloni would have overlooked this.
Is the basket going right back against the water inlet ? These are notorious for falling apart or not seated correctly.

Especially as the top basket has a ‘cut-away’ recess on the L/H/Side to allow the dispenser door to fly open and clear 😕

Yeah theres a slight cut away but it doesn’t allow the dispenser door flap to open, check the next one you see out, i’ve come across this problem regularly, yes sometimes if the rubber seal in the water outlet at back is damaged it will prevent the top basket going back all the way, you don’t have to get in to dishwasher to find this out 😆 , a friend of mine brought this to my attention, when the door of dishwasher is opened at end of cycle, you hear the dispenser opening fully!

Martin i don’t want to sound a real tit here, but is it possible that some of these were made or possibly designed for a slide open type dispenser, the top basket doesn’t allow dispenser door to open! Or are the customers supposed to take the hacksaw to their top baskets & cut out a slot themselves??

Whirlpool dishwashers open onto the top basket too. The tablets are washed out / disolved by the spray from the arms. The tablets fall out at the end only if the spray arms aren’t spraying the water. As far as I remember Indesit are the same
