    Hi,
This looks like a really useful forum, I had no idea it existed!

I chose the HMB312AAI as the reviews on appliancesonline said it is very quiet. I also checked the decibel level on the same site. This was lower than most other fridge/freezers. However, in practice, after the door is opened and shut, the fridge is quite noisy, presumably in its efforts to lower the temperature. The noise seems to reverberate in our open plan room, and makes the wall next to the kitchen vibrate.

I have asked the kitchen fitter to check it is installed correctly, and got another fitter to verify this.

    My questions are:
    (a) Are the vibrations normal? If not, could the noise be due to the way it is installed?
    (b) Have I just chosen a particularly noisy fridge/freezer in the opinion of anyone who knows the various brands and models?

Thanks for reading. Looking forward to receiving any replies.

    Hi,

    On noise levels…

What you see as a rating may not be what you actually get. 😉

After the door is opened you will often find that the fan will kick in to try to bring the temperature back down or to make it more uniform. How noisy that is will be down to luck unless there’s a fault like over freezing and ice is hitting the fan but, on a new fridge freezer, I wouldn’t expect that to be the case.

    Hi,

Thanks very much for your reply. After reading about the ratings, I think there is probably nothing we can do.
