Complaint of not completing cycle, clothes wet etc.
Diagnostics shows E52.Motor looks very good, all wiring to tacho etc fine, brushes only 1/3rd worn, insulation readings perfect.
Set to wash, rinse & spin and it ran correctly.
Customer says that it appears to do the short, 30 minute washes fine but stalls on the longer, hotter washes.
Does this point to a motor TOC problem, it has a SOLE motor in it?
Jim.

Could be a dry joint on either one of the motor relays or the triac on the pcb Jim or possibly a wire going into the motor plug on the verge of breaking but still making contact till shaken by spin, give all the motor plug wires a wee tug, have found them come adrift a few times. As far as I can remember the sole motor had a one hit fuse on the stator so it wouldnt reset itself.

As above, 😉 I did check each and every wire thoroughly. A bad connection wouldn’t allow the machine to complete the 30min, quick wash every time yet fail on the hotter, longer washes. The vibration on spin would be just the same.??

Update from customer on this one.
This morning I suggested she set it on a longer wash, waited until it cut out and then switched off at the mains, leave it for a while then turn the power back on.
She did this and reports that she set it to a 2 hour wash and after about 35 minutes the motor stopped but the display continued to count down. She did as I suggested and left it for 30 minutes then turned the power back on. The machine then completed the full cycle without a hitch. 😕
Very strange. 🙁Jim.

Indeed so but it’s looking more and more as though it’s the motor overload that’s tripping. So you might have to sit around a while supping tea to witness the event.
In case you don’t have the service manual the motor TOC operates through terminals 3 & 4 on the motor block.
HTH? 😀

This model is listed in the last version of TDS that I have, sadly as it is a sealed drum model they gave a loud cough when I told them the price of the motor. :rolls:
