My Hotpoint WF000 has a problem.

It won’t work (broke down midcycle) and the “On/off”, “Energy save” and “Reduce creases” buttons are all flashing (the On/off one is flashing more rapidly than the others, which are flashing steadily).

The Reduce creases and Energy save buttons are the top two buttons.

I’ve phoned Hotpoint repairs and an independent engineer.

Hotpoint said: “Sounds like you need a new control module. Whilst any engineer can order one of these, only a Hotpoint engineer will be able to reprogramme it [which is apparently what we need]. So you’ll have to use us.” It’ll cost £130 (or £170 for another deal they offer where they guarantee the work for a year).

Independent engineer said: “I can do it. Might be the control module, but I think you’ll be best off buying a new one. Did I mention I have a shop where you can buy a washing machine off me?”

What do you think? Any advice?

    Many thanks!

The machine is indicating a communication error. No easy fix,if the connectors to the cicuit boards are tight then you will need an engineer.
Whether you use hotpoint or an independent is your call.
As to whether it is worth fixing there are numerous posts on here highlighting the poor quality of electronics from certain manufacturers.
