how to clear partial blockage of main high pressure pump.
all accessabe filters have been cleaned, whirling arms distmantled and cleaned. Even the pipe between whirling arms to washer floor disconnected.
how do you get any further to access the high pressure impeller?. With washer out and sideways,
Pump seems surrounded by a plastic maze!
    ??

The pump is not accessible without removing the base panel moulding, the pump is attched with one-shot crimp clips, the impellor housing although detachable from the pump body is moulded shut for good measure which means poor access to the impellor itself.
The poor pressure could conceivably be caused by a partially charging run capacitor too…
All in all, time to call an engineer? 😉

    Joe Kav,

Exactly what is the problem here? What are the symptoms?

For the most part and as Clive states it is NOT a DIY machine and an engineer is best called to fix after you have done your best and checked for blockages, there is nothing left but call us out.

What is your postcode? (Check our “Directories” for a local UKW approved repairer 😉

….and come to think of it i’ve had one where the impellor had come loose and hence chewed…

Re: bosch sgs5312 poor wash pressure

I called the engineer today. He confirmed a partial blockage and recomended a special dishwasher cleaner tablet that bursts open when hot!
However i rekon its this cleaner, unless its sulphuric acid is not going to shift the ?item?.

He also said we should use rinse aid and Sun tablet/powder rather than lidl W5 tabs. ??

The whirling water pressure is fine for one second after power is interupted by the on/off switch. This looks like a healty impellor. This leads me to think that the blockage falls away momentarly when the power is off.
Or could it be the control Capacitor?.

    Joe Kav,

From what I’m reading here it appears to me it may simply be ‘water level control problems?’ By that I mean the machine is not filling with sufficent water possibly due to a blocked hose between the ‘Pressure Chamber Unit’ and the sump inlet??

I must say I don’t like your engineers diagnosis and all that about special detergents/cleaning tablets. That will do nothing to cure the problem, it needs taking apart to sort 😉

Re: bosch sgs5312 poor wash pressure

S’ok Martin I know what the engineer in question is on about.

What he’s reffering to is the Finish Dishasher Cleaner bottle that you insert upside down in the cutlery basket, it has a “wax” release on it and empties when the dishwasher hits ~65oC. It will flush the system and you should use one on an empty cycle about once every six months or so. It does reduce blockage problems and can cure some, I know I’ve used it. 😉

I would also say that a good quality detergent, salt (if required) and rinse aid is essential for good wash results and there’s loads to choose from but personally I’d go with Finish, Sun or Fairy powder not tablets, seen too many problems with them and with powder you control the dosage, not the manufacturer.

Not being familiar with that machine I can’t comment on whether or not it needs taking apart to clear it, it may well do, but the engineer’s suggestion is not as crazy as it may first appear.

Re: bosch sgs5312 poor wash pressure

This sounds most definitely like there is insufficient water in it…using the cleaning chemical will have little or no effect on this, the blockage being on the inlet side of the tub…usually in the transfer hose between sump and regulating tank…nice easy job for an engineer 😉

Re: bosch sgs5312 poor wash pressure

Learned Gentlrman, Many thanks for your analysis.
The Insufficient water theory was put to the test by adding a 4 pints. Lo and behold! the upper whirling arm now spins! ( observed with door open) and resulted in a good wash.
No more tabs will be used thank you.
I noticed a distillery of plastic pipes/chambers when i earlier had the machine’s right side off. They are easily detachable from the feeding pipes at the base. There was observeable unpure water there; though i thought the stuff was perhaps a life long “salt” permanently required there.
With your permission I’d like to go back in there and flush that plastic pipery.

where Can i send the beverage of your choice? Cheers again!

    Joe,

You need to concentrate your efforts toward the ‘Pressure Chamber Unit’ that lies directly alongside the ‘Water Inlet/Drain Reservoir'(the bit with the wires attached 😉 ) as that is the likely source of the problem

Always ensure you pull the plug first!

Since you asked….My favourite tipple this Yuletide is ‘Fullers London Pride Real Cask Conditioned Ale’….and as luck would have it, their lorry passes my door daily, so I expect they could stop to offload a barrel or two to keep me going 😆

Re: bosch sgs5312 poor wash pressure

    Hi all,
    still no joy.

“You need to concentrate your efforts toward the ‘Pressure Chamber Unit’ that lies directly alongside the ‘Water Inlet/Drain Reservoir'(the bit with the wires attached “

i have cleaned out the plastic pipery/chambers found on the machines right side. What a load of gunk in the pipe from the sump to the diaphram/ overlevel chamber. How must my artries look!
All cleaned reasembled and reconnected incl diaphram microswirch & Float switch.
Now, when the machine starts to fill ,the chamber fills up quickly the float switch operates, the diaphram fills out and operates its microsw. However the float sw seems to operate the exhaust pump. Thus the machine never fills. Its as though the chamber fills too quickly! the cold feed pressure is not excessive.
Any other suggestions please, i am getting really close.

    Cheers

Re: bosch sgs5312 poor wash pressure

    Joe,

When the water starts to flow through the Pressure Switch/Float Switch Unit and into the tank it usually does come in quite quickly or at least should do. Then as the machine continues to fill the main circulation pump should start and water circulate through the spray arms in the tank. Thus the water level in the Pressure Unit lowers and the machine continues to fill until the Pressure switch (the white Button pops out) operates the microswitch to shut off the fill valve.

Now, if however the float activates the red lever arm microswitch too quickly it will turn on the drain pump as a flood safety protection. This always indicates that the clear plastic pipe from that unit into the tank is blocked or at least restricted in some way. Or indeed that float chamber is silted up and operates irratically. A closer inspection in this area is called for I reckon 😉

Also one final point that is worth noting, and I have come across this before (when someones done a DIY fix wrongly and called me in to sort it) you must ensure you connect the microswitch plugs on the correct microswitch. They can easily be swapped around or even fitted upside down 🙁

Re: bosch sgs5312 poor wash pressure

    Hi Joe
If the corrugated pipe between the plastic tank on the side is now clear, and the base of this tank too…check lastly that where the corrugated pipe fits to the sump is clear all the way into the sump. If when the machine fills, and the water is running into the sump but overflows into the chamber to the right of the diaphragm switch causing the red plastic vertical piece to rise (and hence operate the flood protection) then there can only be a blockage remaining. The inlet supply is fed through a flow restrictor so it cannot fill too quickly, therefore if the water is not getting into the sump quickly enough it can only be a partial blockage.
As you have no doubt noticed the diaphragm assy is a ‘clip together’ assy so taking it apart is NOT recommended…if the problem is there, you’ll just have to try to flush it from the bottom outlet of the tank.
Let us know how you get on?

Re: bosch sgs5312 poor wash pressure

    Agree with Clives post.
Had one the other day, exactly same fault, detached the corrugated hose from the inlet chamber, on the right looking from the front of the machine. Its just a push fit with an O ring, Took a deep breath and blew through the corrugated hose towards the sump. Hey presto lots of gunk flew into the sump, which was cleaned out. Machine worked fine. 😆

Didn’t even have to get machine out from under work top.

    Don’t forget UNPLUG machine first

Re: bosch sgs5312 poor wash pressure

thanks again to Martin & Clive,

Bosch sgs5312GB now works ok. 😆 i was being too ??. When I cleared the corugated pipe and Regulating chamber I did not realise that the sump fills thru there. (a little knowledge is a dangerous thing).
So Figuring I’d prevent the build up of gunk in the future but still allow the level to be monitored I inserted a piece of kitchen plastic scrub into the corugated pipe from the sump side. 😳 . Thus the problem remained until pipe was unobstructed.
Her indoors is now very happy. Nothing like a bit of ‘ardship.

💡 Why does’nt Bosch direct the the high speed filling swish along this pipe to keep it clean? Is this the way Miele do it?

    Cheers
Ps do ya need taps and pipes & gas for that Fullers stuff?
