Customer had their machine installed in March this year. Got a call two weeks ago to say that there was a vibrating noise and that the tub front had spun. Door hinge/ latch now at 10 to 4 (rather that quarter to three).
Removed the front, found no damage apart from stretched tub front seal and that the clamp was looser that expected.

Went back with parts, fitted all with tub front tab lined up bottom centre and when all back in door / hinge arrangement still not lined up. Arranged with customer to take machine back to workshop and sort out as they are only in late afternoon and I knew it would be a long job. All very happy no big gripes….I’d have been a mite peed off at least.

Strips it down in the workshop (with the extra light rather than dim kitchen) to find that the lower tab was bent and on further investigation the filter and sump hose ahd coins, hairgrips, nails in.

Customer now aware that he’s being charged, though I cant find any coins with flattened edges to give me anything concrete as to why it would cause the front to spin.

    Classic line from customer though’
” I thought I was buying a good quality machine, thought this only happened in cheapie machines”

    A. No machine’s designed to wash coins.
    B. A chargeable repair and away it goes again…a cheapie would have a ‘kin great hole in the tub 😉

That’s really interesting Tony as we’ve had a couple do this now and when we got them back, guess what we found as well?

At first we thought there was some problem with the production batch or something but then found there was no relation to any one batch on what we’d seen. Sweden said that they’d not seen it but would look into it and, they still are AFAIK.

But, on the one we really looked at closely we saw almost exactly the same.

And, on the instances I’ve seen, one was in a few weeks and the other going on a year IIRC. You would think (assume) that if it was the band not tightened at factory it’d do it and fail within days.

But if I find out any more from the boffins in Sweden I’ll let you know.

    K.
