Good morning,
Has anyone experienced difficulty in sealing the stainless steel tub on the above, or similar m/c?
I have renewed the drum/shaft assembly, as the shaft housing had corroded, allowing the drum to move slightly and rub against the tub.
However,I’m having great difficulty in sealing the tub.
A new rubber “O” ring/seal was supplied, which I thought I’d fitted satisfactorily.
Upon testing water was soon dripping from the seal, so I removed the seal, inspected, and refitted it… same result!
I’d ordered a new seal with the drum ass’y, not knowing a new one was supplied with it.
Although the new seal appeared fine, I then replaced it with the other new one.
Again, careful re-assembly resulted in a water leak from the seal.
Due to the new seals being slightly thicker, less squashed etc, in exasparation, I re-fitted the original seal for comparison.
No leak!
On each occasion, I’ve fitted the seal dry.
Should one use a lubricant or other sealant on these seals?
