ParticipantHelp please I have read much on the site about the constantly rotating timers on these machines well I had my first one tonight(out in the shed bloody freezing) and after resetting it, all seemed ok.
My queery is what value should the thermistor be I measured 41K on the machine the customer has had this changed previously by agent and just out of interest I measured that and that was the same. The machine was flashing 8 times before resetting it which I take to mean heater relay.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

ParticipantJimbo,
Thermistor valus acceptable – double check by removing, and with the meter set to ohms warm it up by holding it in your hand – resistance should fall. The heater relay is on the main computer board. It CAN be the heater relay itself (soldering iron job), but I keep finding it’s the board itself that’s playing up. EMW do recon boards (exchange) at very reasonable rates, or you’ll have to buy new (£50-60). Trouble is, it’s still a poor quality appliance and you’re standing the warranty!Regards,

The fact that it’s out in a freezing shed could be the very reason the timer is aborting. These machines only like warm well ventilated kitchens (even then they’re fussy). Damp on the board is bad news – tell them to move it indoors !

Thanks for responses I did suggest that the problem could be damp in the shed but the customer was determined that it was not going in the house.
I qouted for a new board and the impression I got was it’s going to the tip if it does it again. 😀December 10, 2004 at 8:06 am #120820Martin

That’ll be sooner rather than later then 😆
It is incredible the number of customers with machines in sheds and damp garages these days. The main reason is that they turf the washing machine out of the kitchen because they need the space to stick in a new DISHWASHER :con:
