ParticipantHi,
My mate has a Hotpoint Aquarius 1000 model HH 62P num 70111503.
The power light dosn’t come on and the machine seems to be dead. He put in a new 13 amp fuse into the plug, no joy. Anyone got any ideas what the problem is and how it could be solved?
Cheers.June 14, 2012 at 10:27 pm #376598iadom

First problem is that model number, don’t know where you have got the HH from but it is wrong.
Assuming it is a WM62 it could be any number of things, door interlock, on/off switch, main control unit damaged by faulty door interlock.
No quick simple answers I’m afraid, it needs checking out with a suitable multimeter or megger by someone who knows how to use such equipment.
With the mains plug removed at all times.

Hi thanks,
Think he got those numbers from the door, has his big plant sitting above it. His son is a heating and ventilation engineer.
So he knows how to check timers and all that stuff. He is going to look at the washer. I thought I’d ask the forum while he is waiting to have his son check it out. If I can get him to remove things above and get number from back. I’ll get back to the forum.

The number is also on the front of the machine, near the control knob, it should be either WM62P or WD62P if it is a washer dryer.
I would leave the control unit well alone until the door interlock and on/off switch have been checked.

Just spoke to my mate. His son went round last night and had the top and sides off and tested all the circuits. He took the door interlock out, he thinks that is faulty my mates going to get a replacement and his son will put it it back in. I’ll let you know.June 15, 2012 at 7:51 pm #376603iadom

Does your mates son use a tin opener, the cabinet is a three sided one piece unit, there are no sides to take off. 😕
How did he test ‘the circuits’ without a wiring diagram?
