ParticipantJust dandy! First a trip to Edinburgh with my son to look at the University, fretting on the way that the oil light had come on before realising it was actually just the screen washer light – not before plenty of ‘woe is me’ thoughts during a 450-mile round trip that also meant I missed the whole of last night’s football games. Then we have rain, rain and more rain, so can’t even get stuff out to dry, so the house is choked with clothes that can’t be tumbled. Next, I get woken up early by she-who-must-be-obeyed-and-never-questioned who wants to know why the washing machine won’t work. Bit difficult to tell with your head still buried under a pillow, so had to drag myself downstairs and start pottering about. That is being hindered further too now that 2 otherwise-delightful grandsons of 4 and 1 have pitched up and are eager to offer their own brand of assistance. Anyway, HELP!!!
Machine doesn’t want to spin, at least that’s as much as I’ve gleaned so far. The Error Code F08 shows up but I haven’t located what that means on a Baumatic (and I KNOW I shouldhve noted down who actually made it and looked for their error code details, but the only mention I’ve found so far concerns a heater relay. As I’ve shut the machine down and started solely from the spin cycle I’m working on the basis that this won’t relevant and must be referring to another manufacturer’s list of error codes.
I checked the manual, which only tells me “F05-F10 – ring Baumatic Service Line”, so I did and they simply read out the same text I’d read for myself on my own manual! Pleasant enough lady, but hardly adding to the sum total of my knowledge.
So there you have it. Stuffed with a family of young men with a “One-Wear-Then-Wash” approach to stupid amounts of clothing that NEEDS to be changed around five times a day. Any suggestions/pointers?
(Meanwhile on the Dishwasher Channel, my simultaneous difficulties with a BDW16….)

Error 8 on this washing machine relates to the motor and, as it is made for Baumatic by Fagor the fault codes relate to these ones…

Appreciated! I may take a Sharpie out and write that on the inside of the space where the machine lives!
Thanks again. Watch this space, and wish me luck!

KERRCHING!!! Back of the Net!!! Gerrinthere!!!
After a check of the connections courtesy of my electrician son (great fun making a spark get his hands dirty, even more so on a weekend!!!) we turned to the brushes, and after use of a hammer in deference to good old Dad (whose first tool out of the box was always a hammer “if it don’t work tap it with a hammer. If it does hit it with the hammer anyway”) and the showering of carbon from the motor then Hey Presto movement. Cleaned up the brushes a touch more elegantly, and all is good with the machine!
So, keeping with the teachings of my parents, I must follow Mum’s insistence that I offer my humble thanks for your help.
Cheers, K. Thanks again.
(Where did I leave that detergent…… )

Thx a lot GarryC. In my case it was the brushes too! 🙂
Tapped the engine in 3 places (both brushes and the spot between them) with a heavier tool for 5 minutes , turned it on and…. it works perfectly now! 🙂
