I have a Whirlpool AWO / D5941 which is providing me with problems to solve at the moment.
Each programme will run for much of its duration but the machine will then go into a stop-start mode. When it stops, all lights go out and it is as though the power has been cut off. A slight click is audible at the point when this happens. It stays in this state for a short time (around 10 seconds or so), then there is another slight audible click and the power comes back on again. The machine then continues operating but the clock does not count onwards. Then the cycle of click/power-off/ nothing/click/power-on/running etc etc starts over again. Thus, a programme that ought to take (say) an hour can still be running two hours later with the clock still saying there is a long time to go.
It is as though there is a thermal link of some sort in the main power supply that is registering an overheat and cutting the power. Upon cooling, the power is restored until an overheat is registered again etc etc.
Can anyone advise me what this is likely to be ??
