ParticipantHi, nice to be back – sort of! This time our 6yr old Zanussi washer (as per subject above) can usually manage to get through a “first – of the day” type programme then seems to fail on subsequent ones. No fault codes on screen and no flashing “code” lights. Sometimes just stops mid prog with all the lights relevant to that prog on and the timer stopped at that stage in prog. Sometimes all the lights for that prog will go out except the on/pause light. Quite often when lights go out there are two loud “solenoid” type clicks which seem to be from around top right area of machine. If the on/pause button is pressed once, quite often it will then just flash regularly – sometimes accompanied by a single “solenoid” type click. Filter is clear and little drain hose is also clear. Any thoughts before I get the angle grinder and oxy-aceteylene kit out? Nick

select drain cycle then start it off then press and hold in the start/pause button and the button to the left of it together then it will then give an error code

Hi captaincaveman1, thanks for your speedy reply! Did as you suggested and got E34 in display. Wife has also noticed the washer seems to be able to do the short ie 30 min wash ok but not much else without hiccups. She only uses this prog rarely as I had previously warned her about the poss of the washer getting “gummed” up inside. Nick

So, change in situation! Took the top off to have a “look” and as I was standing there deciding which bit to hit with the sledgehammer first I saw a whisp of smoke appearing from the middle of the electronic control unit. Switched off at dial and mains then when I switched it back on and tried testing for the error code the lights all lit up in sequence and I got E60 this time ( along with a “burning” smell from the control unit). Had a look at price of new unit – £110 and figured ( or my wife did! ) that repair time plus part – assuming thats all that is wrong – equals new machine time! So thanks to those who responded, or meant to respond, or who knew someone who was going to respond or who just read the post – sorry – it was all for nowt! See you again no doubt – but not too soon hopefully!! Nick
