ParticipantHi my miele W528 has the rinse light flashing.
What could the problem be.? I’ve seen lots of others with faulty EL200 boards but mine looks nothing like them.
Ive had a brief look at the brushes and the communicator looks quite black.
How do you remove the assembly that hold the brushes in i have the motor on the bench and i cant see how the two wire bars either side come out.?Thank You

Rinse light flashing denotes drive motor fault, likely its worn brushes. Back end plate comes off motor completely to replace brushes. Not the easiest for an inexperienced person. Go for it if you feel up to it (power off of course) or contact a local repair guy.

I fixed it, the motor bushes were worn…well one was totally worn the other wasn’t too bad, miele wanted £50 for a pair.!!
Anyway i made some myself and it runs perfect now.June 22, 2012 at 7:26 am #376842Seamy

Well I doubt it’ll run perfectly for long, get the proper brushes, the actually fact that one was worn completely & the other not too bad means your motor is’nt in too good of nick, not correct brushes will only expediate its demise.

I made the new bushes to the original pattern.

If you have made a set of brushes that are NOT perfect it will cause the brushed to overheat and it will melt the brush assembly, costing you more money.

I made them to the original pattern and they fit. 😕
Brushes don’t exactly glide in and out with total precision they are quite a loose fit as standard.
Its not beyond the wit of man to actually make something instead of being held to ransom by the dealers.June 26, 2012 at 6:59 pm #376846Seamy

Bit late in the day this, but if one brush is worn and the other is OK, then you have a problem with the Commutator. The Brushes will wear out again fairly quickly. If the machine is less than 5 years old and you haven’t run up a huge amount of hours on the machine ( they have counters) you may find Miele could be accomadating ( they have a reputation to protect).
