ParticipantWell after a monumental cock-up with IR and tax I have been left with peanuts to buy a washer, ended up with a Candy ..pause.. (while you snigger 😥 )
I know they are cheap crappy Chinese made dribble but to be honest it came out at only £150 at the local discount store. It came with a 12 month part and labour and another 4 years parts like Hotpoint.
Question is does anyone know what they charge for labour should something go south, would it be worth me paying for 4 years labour cover for £179.99? Been reading and someone here had a problem with bearings at 3 years but didn’t find a price for the part? 😯

If the bearings go south then it is BER, it has a sealed drum so totally uneconomic to repair, labour would be around the £100 mark but if ( when ) the bearings fail they may just refund a portion of your premium and make a derisory offer on a new machine. 😉
They are not as bad as you think, they are much, much worse. :rolls:

Ha! Guessed it wouldn’t be a Miele for 150 notes (if only!).. Well at-least I’m OK for 12 months. Had someone bending my ear on MSE, don’t bother with warranties he said if it only lasts 3 years quote not fit for intended purpose and insist the manufacture rectify the fault FOC. Apparently any washer irrespective of make is suppose to last 5 years in a domestic environment 😯

Not true.
Depends on the level of use and what is “reasonable” as the Sale of Goods Act says.
For £150 when the “norm” is circa £4-600 and the top end domestic washing machine exceeds £1000 it is very arguable about how long you could “reasonably” expect the machine to last.
Put it this way, if the “norm” and median (£500) is reasonably expected to last about 5-7 years then how long do you expect a machine under £300 (60{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of that value) of that to last? Even if it’s 60{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time it’s way less that five years.
But then, the only way to find out for sure is to go to court and put it in front of a judge and, are you really going to go to that expense and take that risk over a £150 washing machine?
