    Hi there,
I’m having a look at my mother-in-law’s dishwasher which has suddenly stopped working.
When you turn the unit on and select any of the programs then shut the door, it sounds like it’s starting (I can hear at least one pump running). After about 5 seconds it stops and continuously repeats a sequence of 5 beeps (also 5 flashes of the end of cycle LED). Zanussi have confirmed that this is a ‘motor fault’.
I’ve observed that the amount of water left in the sump varies each time I run it, so I think that at least some water is getting in and out.

When I removed the front plate yesterday, I found that the plastic tray in the bottom of the machine was full of water, which I have drained but it’s made no difference. (That water was slightly opaque and quite soapy, whereas the water in the sump right now seems fresh)

What’s currently puzzling me is whether the flood water in the base is a separate problem or linked to the ‘motor fault’ and if so, I wonder what fault might cause leakage and also trigger a motor fault code…

As I don’t have a wiring diagram and seemingly cannot get one, can anyone please give me some tips about how this machine asserts a ‘motor fault’ and any general advice about what components to test.

    Thanks in advance
    Jonathan

The circulation pump may be leaking water into base, the water may have risen enough to damage motor, bearings may be seized. Hard to tell without testing it t hough. An engineer should be able to confirn this for you or another fault & advise you of repairs needed.

I tried to post more details about where I’d got to with this problem yesterday, but the forum logged me out and I lost it all 🙁

In short: I found that the unit came back to life after I’d tipped it back to check the impeller… However, I discovered that the outer manifold was leaking… The screw thread was snapped and it couldn’t be tightened to seal the O-ring.
I’ve now replaced it with a new manifold.

While I was investigating the leak I noticed that the machine wasn’t heating. After confirming that the element is okay (reads 24 Ohms) I checked the PCB and I’ve found that resistor R8 has split in half and R9 is burnt out.
These two resistors are on the tacho circuit and as I’ve read that it won’t heat without a working tachometer (I’ve checked the tacho itself and it correctly reads ~220 Ohms) I can understand the failure to heat.

Unfortunately, the resistors are too badly damaged (see photo) to read properly 🙁 R9 is ’10?’ possibly ‘104’ but as the last number is the multiplier it’s pretty critical I get it right!

Is there anyone on this forum who can tell me the correct values of these two resistors?
I’m going to ask Zanussi tomorrow but I’m not expecting much success…
