ParticipantHi Guys,
Hoping you can help.
My 10 yr old Bosch SGS5362GB/01 is not cleaning dirty pots/pans etc properly on the bottom layer. Most of the lightly soiled stuff on the bottom is coming out clean and the top layer items are all coming out spotless. We are using the same Lidl dishwasher tablets we have used for a while which have always worked well for us.
I suspected maybe the water spinnner thing on the bottom may have been blocked with some debris/plastic packaging or something so have taken that out and checked/cleaned it – it seemed fine with no spout holes blocked.
Ran the dishwasher on a 70C cycle and opened the door halfway through and water seemed hot with steam bollowing out so not much wrong with the water heating side of things.
Have washed the grill pan from the oven in the bottom today and the grease on the grill looks like its been lightly tickled and not washed off at all ?
Any suggestions on what might be up? is there a supply pipe to the lower level spinnner I can easily check for blockages ?
The dishwasher is running fully through cycles and the water is being pumped out at the end of the cycle as normal.
Bit stumped !

First the good news…..I know from your description what the problem is here.
The bad news however is that the ‘Water Heater Unit (part no:488856) has failed. In that the flow diverter within that unit has ceased to operate, hence your findings. The cost of replacing this outweighs it’s age and hence it is time to wave bye bye to it and buy a new one!….sorry cock!

Thanks Guys,
I have had the main control unit repaired so I am not averse to to doing a diy repair/swap out of a part but I take your point that, with the age of the unit itself, it is time for a new dishwasher.
Next question is – which mid range Bosch dishwasher should I be looking at ? From a reliability and ease of changing parts down the line point of view ?
We need a timer delay on it as we have economy 7 electric so want to set it at say 11pm but to start in 3-4 hours time.

Your choosing from the options you need I would say. As to your second question I hesitate to think that in direct comparison to your present Bosch can the word ” reliability” be applied in the same context. Sadly Bosch have taken a nose- dive in that regard in recent years, and their latest offering no exception. So, whilst I consider Bosch still to be way up there as far as choice is concerned, don’t expect a long life from it and DON’T waste your money on extended warranties either……. 😉
