ParticipantI have a Bosch WFF 2000GB/14. The motor has stopped turning and the pre-wash light flashes 4 times – indicating a motor problem (iirc). The bushes seemed worn – 8-10mm – so I have replaced these but to no avail; despite getting a contact between the two bush connectors at the top of the tube these sit in.
There are six pins on the motor connector block numbered 2-7. There is a contact between 2-3 and 6-7 but not between 4-5. Does this have any significance? Is the motor shot or are the new bushes suspect??

the six contact on a motor are as follows
2 contacts armature
2 contacts field coil
2 contact tachoyou will get a low reading on the armaure and fiel but the tacho will give a higher reading. put meter on tacho contacts and spin motor by hand if reading changes its prob ok
if all ok check pcb for signs of blown tracks
make sure its unplugged

Thanks for that input Dave. As you say, I get a low resistance across contacts 2-3 (0.8 ohms iirc) and a higher and variable figure on 6-7 – which will be the tacho. Assuming the field coil contacts are 4 and 5, those are the ones where there is no continuity (Infinite Ohms). What will this mean ?

a lot of motors including bosch have a thermal cutout inside the motor which could have gone either way internal motor parts are not available
my next step would be strip the motor you may be lucky and find a broken wire that can be fixed it will also allow you to check each coil seperatly
bit of a long shot but if it fails new motor

I’ve had a look at the thermal cutout and concluded that it had failed – no continuity across it. As an experiment, I soldered a wire across the cutout’s contacts and this restored continuity across terminals 4 and 5. Obviously, it’s not a good idea to use the machine for any time like this, but I decided to reconnect it just to test the motor. Still nothing.
Is it possible that the pcb and cutout would fail at the same time? How could I test the pcb?

anything is possible
look for bad solder joints on board, blown motor triac ( the one on the heatsink and of course blown tracks
