    Hi,
I have a BEKO LC120 fridge which has got me puzzled. The temperature inside the fridge is actually hotter than ambient. I checked power on and thermostat set to 7 the highest it will go. I dragged the fridge out to check to see what I would find. The compressor is very hot. I turned the fridge off and left it for the compressor to cool down. Once it was cool, I turned the fridge on again, sound of a relay buzzing briefly then motor ran for a couple of seconds and stopped. It repeated this cycle 4 times in as many minutes, the compressor had got very hot again. Decided to turn it off and contact you. The compressor housing has a sticker on it which says it is fitted with a thermal cut out. Is my fridge knackered and in need of replacement, I have a suspicion that the motor is just rapidly overheating and the thermal cut off operating, if this is the case is it time for a new fridge, or is there some other possible explanation that won’t be so financially painful.

Sounds like the compressor is dead. Time for a new fridge as the cost to replace compressor and re-gas would be as much if not more.

    Hi Nige

Thanks for the rapid response to my request, you have confirmed my worst fears, so my poor old BEKO is off the recycling centre.
