Hi, I have acquired an Ariston a1436 with a house purchase. Gave it a try last night, wanted to run it with nothing in and after messing about, managed to get it to, what I think is double fill with water. The water line is passed half way going off the glass in the door. The machine started its cycle but soon after started sounding unhealthy and smelling as the drum rotated. So I have turned it off and would now like to drain the water out and try it again. How do I do this?

    Thanks for the help

    Stephen

Based on a Hotpoint drum design, if you can access the grey, corrugated drain hose at the back and lower it down into a bowl or out the back door if possible then it ‘may’ drain out. If it is blocked and doesn’t drain in this way then you are in trouble.

If you unplug the machine and tilt it back, (might be a good idea to get some help to hold it ) until the water level drops below the door then you will have to ladle the water out as best you can.

Its possible that it has a blockage in the pump or main sump hose.

Access to these is from behind the lower back cover, have a washing up bowl and several large towels handy.

I would not try it again until you have checked the pump and sump hose for obstructions.

    Hi Steve
Take the drain hose out of its outlet pipe, and lower it into a bowl as low as posible, this should empty machine

    regards Clive

Is there an echo in here?

Didn’t I say exactly that in my first post Clive.????

If it is badly blocked then it will not drain that way in any event. 😉

    Jim.
