ParticipantHi
Can anyone help?
The appliance is a cond drier Hotpoint TDC30. I need to know what wires colours if possible go the the two stats on the back (130 degree one shot and the 106 cycle stat) some bright spark (so called sparky) found the the stats has gone so joined them all together with insulation tape. the customer was thinking of using it to cook the christmas turkey. I have tried Hotpoint for a wiring diagram the only help they gave was no help.

The wiring diagram is only available in the service manual knobby @ circa £15 for most of them 🙁
Normally though the length of the leads is enough as the two to the right hand stat as you look from the back should be longer in theory unless the guy has cut them back.

…and if memory serves (has been known to fail) the orange and brown are to the L/H stat…with blues to the right? All the stat kits give a sheet showing which stat is which and which goes where!
Best of luck

Knobby,
The easy way to work out which goes to which is that the ‘Cycling Thermostat’ ( that’s the unmarked one of the 2 which sits on the R/H/Side as you look at it from the back 😉 ) is connected to one Brown wire that goes straight to the element. The other end of the same stat should either be a single brown or a single orange.
The two wires remaining therefore go to the ‘One Shot’ t/stat on the L/H/Side (the one with the Green dot on it). 😀

1701583 is the stat kit, in the box it shows the 130C (green spot) goes on the left as you look from the back but no indication as to which leads go on which stat.
I think you’re right though Clive, the blue one’s go to the right from memory.
Dave.

I do hope Knobby is not colour blind :lol2:
Incidentally, did you ever hear Bob Newhart and his brilliant sketch on “Defusing a Bomb?” (Perhaps not, a bit before your time I expect 😆 ) but I liked the part where he says (over the phone) to the guy trying(on site) to defuse the bomb. “Boy! Sure are a lot of wires in that baby are’nt there?….Anyway, one wire is kind of a bluish grey…and the other is a kind of greyish blue??????” :rotl:
