ParticipantThe dishwasher overfills to the point where it operates the safety switch, but the circulation motor doesn’t cut in. I cleared the blocked sump hose, and usually that is the end of the matter. The circulation motor is spinning freely by hand. It fills ok, so it can’t be the impellor jug, but this is one without the diaphram, so I am assuming that it is a timed fill through the module. I have checked the module as well, and visually there are no signs of any problems. Any ideas please? Cheers. Steve.

A faulty impellor jug doesn’t stop the appliance from filling ! It will normally cause the machine to constantly fill then drain then continue filling then drain abit forever . Does the tap symbol appear on the display after approx 20/30 seconds ? Pound to a pinch its the impellor jug 😉

Thanks for that Paul. The only impellor jug fault I have had in the past stopped it from filling. I have no doubt that you are correct though. I will keep you informed. Thank you. Steve.

Hi Paul. Thank you for advice re Neff dishwasher. You were quite correct, it was the impellor jug. It has all dropped into place now I think. I was thinking that there was a timed fill facility through the module, but clearly it seems that the impellor jug measures the water allowed into the appliance. I assumed the impellor jug was to measure the rate of flow, and therefore also the water pressure, as was the case on most of the old dishwashers through the pressure diaphram valves that they used to fit. Just goes to show doesn’t it. Thanks again. Steve.

The impellor jug measures flow rate and sends this info to the main control module. The module then uses this info to determine how long the valve remains open for . I.e if it needs 10ltrs of water and the rate is 10ltrs a minute , it’ll open the valve for 1 min. If it gets a false or no signal , the valve remains open unitl it ‘overfills’ , pumps out some water and then starts filling again…..hence the continuing fill/drain/fill/drain cycle it gets stuck in !

Yes, I sort of worked that out, but that is not the fault I have had in the past with the impellor jug. However, I thank you, and I think it is one to watch in future. Steve.
