ParticipantIt’s morally wrong for customers to ask a tradesman to do a cash job.

We all know its wrong but since VAT was increased it happens far more often and from surprisngly unusual sources.
Tax revenues are down for all sorts of reasons but dropping the vat to 15{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} instead of increasing it would have encouraged more business and less evasion.
Had a visit from a vat inspector a while ago,now they don’t miss much,July 24, 2012 at 7:01 am #378523Cras

VAT especially is a tax collected almost entirely at source with virtually no cost,as far as I know to the govenment,we do all the calculating.
Has anyone ever calculated for say every £1000.00 vat payment, what it costs the business in terms of staff wages.heating and other equipment to submiy our return with the payment.
I’ve got some business customers (fast food places) who only deal in cash,ie no cheque book, how the hell are they paying a fair share to the revenue,if anything at all!July 24, 2012 at 10:48 am #378525squadman

The thing about this is that this minister is a hypocrite ! of the highest order, do as I say and not as I do. Here is some backround on this man and he has the bear cheek to try and tar all small businesses with his poison !
Mr Gauke did not emerge unscathed from the Daily Telegraph’s 2009 investigation into parliamentary expenses.
It emerged that he had claimed more than £10,000 to cover the stamp duty and other fees from the purchase of his second home in London, and it is this which many members of the public have raised in response to the minister’s “morally wrong” comments about tax evasion. Then there is his wife, Rachel, also a solicitor, who features in a photograph proudly displayed on Mr Gauke’s constituency website a day after the birth of one of their three young sons.
Like her husband, Mrs Gauke is a tax expert; she currently works as an adviser to LexusNexus, specialising in corporate tax law.
The firm’s website states that its staff “support every tax practitioner on the front line as they deal with the tax collector“.Its jobs for the boys, all in it together colluding, bending, and they have no concept of the working people of this country as they are too busy using loopholes to enhance their own finances:
