Hi all we have a callout tomorrow to the above model. No experience of this model we are experienced fridge engineers. Customer complains that the fridge is overfreezing and both the water dispenser and ice machine do not work. Any info would be appreciated. TA

Re: Whirlpool fridge freezer – American Style – Model = S20

    evening,

Although both water and ice are not working they are on seperate water valves, both valves operated from the PCB located lower rear left corner.

Therefore do you have a water supply?

There are numerous faults with early versions of this appliance. Whirlpool have replaced the rear board because of umpteen failures’ with a modified one …however you need to replace the front user board too, as its not compatible with the original. £200 easily for the bits plus vat. There is also an issue with freezing of the water supply line to the ice maker)although this would not effect the water dispensor). The water cooling is done by the fridge….inside lower back there is a large coil of pipe and this is cooled by the fridge ….is it frozen? As there is also an issue with the air vane stat and the return vent (lower left hand side of the fridge) freezing up. This was due to too large an aperature to the fridge from the freezer evaporator to the fridge. There is a cure for this and if you need this PM me as it long winded and requires entry into the freezer evap section to sort out.

There’s more but hopefully this will sort out enough for you to make a visit. Ian you know how to speak to me if you want to but not 1st thing in the morning…

    Regards

    Kevin
