ParticipantThought i would ask a general ?
Do engineers these days bother with regassing domestic fridges and freezers i havn’t for years but now it seems new machines are breaking down only 12 – 18 mths old. And it seems a crime to scrap them. And as it seems impossible to sell new now with all the cheap prices on the internet customers can buy machines cheaper than i can buy at trade fron DAD. So i thought maybe i should buy some new kit for regassing as my old stuff went out years ago. Also would need to get brought upto date with some training does anyone know of any
available .Thanks Larry.July 28, 2012 at 3:21 pm #378680Allsorts

There are a couple of guys on here that are training people up on refrigeration regassing…
Try R600a or Dales-Electronic.

If you have still got your old kit keep hold of it as really its only a case of reskilling on R600a these days and perhaps the addition of a set of charging scales. Not sure where you are but Im doing training in Boston Lincs and can give you all you need in a day – all hands on and free 😀

Tim – No thats to take people with no fridge experience and bring them up to fridge engineers
Larry – Just running them on an ad-hoc basis at the mo – do them on Tuesdays & Thursdays one on one tuition.

Up to you if you want to braze or use Lokring system. Brazing is the cheaper option as the set up costs for Lokring are high. You will need a vac pump, set of scales and a decent set of gauges and that will get you started.

Thanks for the info I was lead to believe that you couldnt weld the new stuff as it was highly flamable.
