ParticipantOur hotpoint wf220 wont start, you shut the door with power on and a click is heard where the door locks but the door locked light doesnt light. you press and hold start and the WASH light comes on but nothing happens. After about 10 minutes the door locked light begins to flash.
If anyone can give advice it would be great. I only changed the bearings on this machine last year so it would be nice if I can keep it going a bit longer 😀

Might be worth checking the motor brushes and motor plug connections.

Cheers Iadom, I’ve taken the motor out and taken a brush out to check and there is about 8mm of carbon sticking out where as pictures I’ve seen on the net show way more than that on new ones so I’m guessing they’re knackered.
How do I find the part number ? I’ve seen a few on the net listed as C00201861 and they look like mine but in the compatibility list WF220 isn’t listed. Anyone know if that’s the right code ?

That should be the correct part number, just check the angle of the brush end from above.
If you get the ones with the angle going the other way it is possible to open up the brush holders and turn them around, you might also have to reuse the old holders.PS. Just checked a pair I have in stock, those are the correct ones. 8)

Cheers, you think this is the cause of the non starting ? When I took the machine apart I turned the motor by hand awhile and check all connections after this I plugged it back in and managed to get the machine working. While it was going I could hear an arcing noise which I guess is the worn brushes. I then moved the machine to see if I could see the motor sparking, this caused the machine to stop working again.

You are heading the right way to completely wreck the machine, keep running it with worn brushes and it’s likely to take out the main pcb.
Don’t attempt to run it again until you have changed the brushes.

Many thanks Iadom that’s done the trick , little bit noisy now but I’m guessing the brushes have to bed in slightly. Cheers for your help.
