ParticipantMy integrated fridge/freezer is dripping water onto the kitchen floor. It’s not a massive amount but it does pool up over a day or so.
I defrosted the fridge/freezer a couple of months ago. When I checked it the other day, it had a solid layer of ice on the floor of the freezer. It’s supposed to be frost/free.
Any idea what could be causing the water to drop from the door?
Also, I read somewhere that if you don’t keep a freezer stocked up, ice can build up even in a frost free model. Is this correct?

The drain for water to run away in the freezer will be iced up.
If you move your food to another fridge freezer and turn of
Your fridge freezer for 48 hours with the doors open the drain will thaw out.If the problem returns then you will need to call an engineer out as the defrost heater will have lifted up from the drain allowing the drain to freeze.

Ok, thanks. Thankfully I have a spare fridge/freezer so have moved everything to that. I think I made the mistake of only leaving it to defrost for a day when I did it a couple of months ago.

Update.
My freezer has started to ice up again and drip water onto the floor. So if I do a 3-4 day defrost, it appears ok for the next couple of months. However an ice sheet is building up in the bottom of the freezer.
Does this freezer have a drain plug? Could it be the door seal?

The defrost heater will have lifted up from the drain so it is not defrosting the drain.
You may also need a no frost evaporator sensor replaced.
You will need an engineer to test and repair.
If the no frost sensor is the flat type sensor it will need replacing with the newer round type sensor.

Thanks. Any idea of a ballpark figure for an engineer?

I presume this isn’t something I can sort myself? As this is an integrated fridge/freezer, will it need to be removed to repair?

Look on this site find an engineer to get a estimate from an engineer near you.
What area do you live.
In most cases it can be repaired without removing it from the cabinet.

I live in the KY2 postcode area, just north of Edinburgh.

OK, I’ve taken the back panels off the freezer. Can anyone see anything visually that’s wrong. I presume the second picture shows the defrost heater? I’m guessing I’ll need to test this with a multimeter?

Looking at the picture the sealant has melted onto the no frost sensor.
The sensor is the old type flat sensor and will need to be replaced with the newer type round sensor.
Make sure the mains lead is disconnected when replacing as this sensor is live even if is turned off on the control panel.
Then you need to reseal the hole with the sealant or plumbers mate sealant .

Make sure the drain hole at the bottom is clear before re assembling as it may have blocked up with sealant

I presume the sealant you’re referring to is the clump in the first picture in the top left around where all the cables come into the cabinet?

The drain hole I’m assuming is the small hole at the back in the second picture, just to the right of the plastic bracket?
Thanks for your help.

Yes right on both the sealant and the drain.
The sensor will be under the melted sealant top left hand corner
