AEG OKO Favorit 5450. Something in the machine seems to be running when the ON/OFF is OFF. The programme selector first seemed to be stuck in Intensive Main Washing for 30-40 mins. Opening door certainly showed me this was definitely in operation – lots of hot water flow.
Moved selector on to rinse, continued to end BUT despite being switched off there is still SOMEThing operating (pump ? no idea).
If powered off at the mains the something stops but starts again as soon as power is reconnected.

Any suggestions would be very grateful.

    Thanks

Sounds like water has leaked into the base & activated the float switch which runs the pump continuously until the leak is repaired & water removed from base. Power off of course when testing.

Thank you – will check for leaks – hump out and open.

I know this is going to sound stupid but it worked. The thread on “How to Mend it” had a suggestion at the beginning that stated that a couple of jugfuls of water thrown in would give the pump something to do. I tried this yesterday to carry out the “reset”. That silenced the pump last night and this morning, thank god, the dishwasher worked ! 😀 However – this does NOT mean that I should not carry out the other checks mentioned in this forum and others. That is now a follow on after a short term solution.

I would like to thank everyone who offers advice a Big Thanks and hope that I can help others in the future. Surrinder

Mod edit: Removed the “How to mend it” direct link from post.
