    Hello

We are in the process of installing a new kitchen and have decide to have two built-in ovens and a large hob (all electric – no gas)instead of a range cooker as we prefer the built-in look. We would like one simple fan oven and one multi-function but not one which has a plethora of features that we would probably not use. I currently use a 20 year old Neff which apart from a couple of new elements has not been any problem apart from the grill function which is just too fiddly to use so I don’t bother. The main criteria are good performance, build quality and reliability with good service should I need it. I have looked at the IKEA range as I thought the 5 year warranty would mean a good build quality but I was not convinced. The new Samsung ovens seem well built with a 5 year warranty but I am open minded and would welcome any suggestions as to what brands I should consider based on the experience of members.

    Hi

Avoid the Samsung,They have several problems that they haven’t rectified as yet after several years. It comes doen to how much you want to spend on one.

    Hello Bryan

Thanks for the info regarding the Samsung. I realise I will have to pay for quality (I have a Sebo vacuum cleaner!) but would obviously like to get the best value. I don’t think some high-end manufactures are worth what they charge.

    Hello Bryan

The V ZUG ovens look like a quality item. What is the benefit of a steam oven bering in mind that we are both vegetarians so will not be roasting any joints of meat. Also what is the service backup like?

    Hi
The ovens are top quality units.

The steam oven keeps a lot of the moisture inside the food,The Back up is selective engineers across the UK.Where about in the country are you ?

The Zug is swiss and i use to sell them, but they are not big in this country and there was talk of them pulling out, i sold all my display off because of that rumour, fantastic products and excellent quality.
If you want good quality and back up, look at Neff as they offer both and most independant repairers will repair them out of warranty.(plus you have had one for 20 years!)

    Hi

if your looking for quality the the v zug wins hands down. The service is also provided by independents. Yes the company which was the distributor for the Uk pulled out but it has been relaunched into the UK by a new company over 18 months ago which has the technical back up with knowledge for over 20 yrs

The neff/bosch range is nowhere near the same quality as it was 20 years ago.

    Re: Built in oven choice

    Hello Bryan

Yes, it seems nothing is as well made as my existing twenty year old appliances (Neff oven/hob and zanussi fridge/freezer) but the Neff appliances seem as good as any in the price range. I will try and have a look at a V Zug oven before I decide. I am a bit puzzled why there is only a two-year warranty on the V Zug (same as the Neff) considering that it is a top of the range item in terms of cost and quality. I would have thought a 5 year warranty (like the Samsung) was more appropriate.

    Thanks for your help.

Samsung offer a 5 year warranty to entice you to buy.
Neff ovens are in my opinion better than 20 years ago, they are renowned for their circotherm cooking, the Zug is good quality but if you want good cooking then buy a Neff
