    Hello,

My dishwasher has stopped filling with water. It’s been working fine for years, so I don’t see it being an installation problem. I had someone take a look at it a year ago and he told me that he couldn’t repair it as there were signs of leakage on the circulation motor (think that’s the term he used) and that it was a discontinued part. I ended up replacing the drain pump myself, which was also faulty, and it’s kept going until today when it stopped filling. If the circulation motor has now failed, is there any way to service it or replace it ?

    Thanks very much in advance.

Only way circulation pump failure would effect appliance filling would be if it leaked into base & activated float switch, drain pump would run continuously. Circ’ pump is not repairable, but can be replaced (if available) although will be expensive, 9 digit PNC code of appliance needed to identify/order correct parts.

Seamy, thanks for your reply. The float switch hasn’t been activated and the base is dry, so no obvious leaks. Just to avoid wasting anyone’s time, I’ll check that the inlet hose isn’t blocked in some way, but that seems unlikely as nothing has changed around it. Won’t be able to do that until Monday, or tomorrow afternoon at the earliest, so will post back then with result and model no.

    Thanks.

Re: AEG OKO Favorit 6040 not filling

    Hello again,

I’ve taken off the inlet hose and that’s working fine.
    PNC number is 911 232 047 01.

In the interests of full disclosure, here’s some other information. It’s now completely disconnected from the mains, by the way.

I’ve looked at the circulation pump and there’s a damp clump of limescale underneath it, as well as scale around the pump itself. (But the float switch hasn’t been tripped.) I’m not used to looking at these things, but it appears to have burnt out in some way (which would also explain the nasty smell when I turned it off in a hurry a couple of days ago). There’s what looks like some melted plastic cladding, and some of the copper winding is discoloured. There are various numbers on the pump:

    646.121.460
    132.140-4
    ME201

I hope some or all of that might give you some clues, and any further help you can offer would be much appreciated. I’d really like to fix it, as it’s a brilliant dishwasher; people always seem surprised that we have one that actually cleans and dries dishes.

    Thanks
    BBD

Part number for circulation pump is 8996464034579
not cheap though, if you can find one.

Re: AEG OKO Favorit 6040 not filling

Thanks for that information, but I’ve had no luck finding one. Did some web searches and made a couple of phone calls; one place listed the part but doesn’t have one. Any suggestions where I might get one ?

Have to be honest, though: if it’s going to cost me more than about £ 150 I think it’s time for a new dishwasher, as this one is now 13 years old and will doubtless need other bits fixed before long.

    Thanks again
    John
