    Hi Guys,

I ordered a wash element for Bosch / Siemens washer dryer part no 494068 but Qualtex told me that it was obsolete and repalced with 645725. the wiring is diffrent old one had brown housing and the temp sensor was builtin and this one is like normal wash elment with seperate NTC for temp.

Shall I make a loop for the NTC? i.e put the live in the NTC and then from the NTC to the element ?

    Thanks in advance
    regards

mmm,. probably would not advise doing that somehow. have you the model number of the appliance?

If you are saying the old heater did not have a NTC but the new one has, then just leave it disconnected as its just there to plug the hole. Your appliance must have a seperate NTC elsewhere.

Thanks for your reply, the model no is WDI1440GB/03. The old one did have the sensor but it is like a long probe (like oven thermostat bellow)
the old one has red covering on the terminal and has connections for three wires, if I can somehow post the pic then that will help you a lot to understand

I left the new NTC unconnected but it will not control the temp I am sure

It’s actually a Siemens machine ( not Bosch) and the NTC on these is separate and a grommet fit in the bottom of the outer tub. The elements 3 wires being L,N & E.

    nearly Martin, actualy a Smeg.
I guess fairdeal is talking of some sort of thermal fuse maybe? and yes, the NTC for that one is under the tub so, fairdeal, just sort out the live, neutral and earth and let the temperature sensing look after itself.
